The students built fine motor skills this week by punching holes in stockings and sewing them with yarn.
This child is writing a letter to Santa using a greeting card.
We read the book Hansel and Gretel. The snow white dove from the story delivered a path out of the forest with clue cards telling our class how to escape. We followed the pattern cards and tried to get out of the forest without reaching a dead end. The children LOVED this story and game. We are working on making our own board games to take home and play.
Each tree below has a number written on it. The students were to decorate the tree with the appropriate number of ornaments.

We had all kinds of holiday activities this week. One activity we did was write letters to Santa.
The dramatic play center became a Smokey Row Coffee Shop! We had fun writing orders and making "hot cocoa with marshmallows" for our friends.
Different gift bags had ornaments inside. The children guessed how many ornaments were in each bag and then counted them. They compared their guesses with the actual amounts.

Last week our letter person was Mr. B with beautiful buttons! We did lots of B activities. We searched in beans for balls and recorded what we found.
We also read the book The Button Box and then sorted our own button box buttons.
For our transportation unit, we rolled dice, added them together and parked cars in parking spaces that equal the sum of the dice rolled.
In dramatic play we created a van. The first person was the driver and the other friends were tourists.
One of our star centers this week was to sort transportation vehicles by land, air, or water.

We put math shapes onto a pumpkin and created Jack-O-Lantern faces.
Count Dracula! We put on a cape and counted items in a jar and practiced numeral writing.
We used fall creatures to create patterns.
We were teachers this week! We got to write on the big white board to practice numbers!
We are building fine motor skills by using a paper punch and sewing yarn through apples!

This week we had many fun centers. We put new letters in front of our names and read what our names would be if they started with a different letter. They were very silly!
The boys below with the fancy glasses our reading and writing our "fancy" vocabulary words.
We learned what a keyboard is in computer this week. The children practiced typing their friends' names on a computer keyboard.
Mr. H has horrible hair.
