After our bridal shower we made veils and bow ties for our wedding of q and u.
Together we led them down the "aisle" and sang this song:
"Oh today I'm going to marry miss U
Oh today I'm going to marry Mr. Q
Oh we'll have a lot of fun when our two sounds
become one, and together we can make a word like
___________" and we used words from our bridal shower that being with
"If you're gonna have a q, then you gotta have a u, because q and u stick together like glue!" In order to help the kids understand this we had a wedding for q and u complete with a bridal shower.
We brought things from home that started with q, u or both of the letters and wrapped them up as shower gifts for Mr. Q and Miss U. We wrote down the words and sorted the items. Mr. Q and Miss U were so excited by all of the presents they received at their bridal shower!

This week at dramatic play we had a library checkout center. They "checked out books" and practiced reading them.
We have had fun with math this week. The students dropped 6 balls above a hoop. They then counted how many dropped inside, and how many dropped outside and wrote addition problems.
We got to practice reading using martian fingers!
We built sight words with magnets and then got to write the words on a mirror with window markers!

The students built fine motor skills this week by punching holes in stockings and sewing them with yarn.
This child is writing a letter to Santa using a greeting card.
We read the book Hansel and Gretel. The snow white dove from the story delivered a path out of the forest with clue cards telling our class how to escape. We followed the pattern cards and tried to get out of the forest without reaching a dead end. The children LOVED this story and game. We are working on making our own board games to take home and play.
Each tree below has a number written on it. The students were to decorate the tree with the appropriate number of ornaments.
